In 1907, Maria Montessori founded the first Montessori school in Rome. Its overall purpose was to give four to seven year old children from low-income families a full-day educational program.

The education system in the United States is in desperate times. The low pay that most school systems offer is one of the main causes. There is very little in the way of incentives for people to want to take up teaching because the vocation requires so much and gives so little in return. They think that the burden of having to repay the money after school is too great, or that they can handle making it on their own.
